Episode Transcript

“Why Lifestyle Matters” is the subject of this introduction and the name for a new podcast mini-series within the weekly “The Rabbi Who Got Rich on Sunday” podcast.

Why This Series

I’ve spent 84 episodes of this podcast sharing the hard-earned lessons from my 40-year business and Rabbinic career. And while many of those lessons apply to any business, my main focus in this podcast has always been helping people build a substantial repeat income in as little as one day a week, such as a Sunday. About 10 hours per week.

Now, I want to share why all of that work is worth it. Because for me, it’s not just about money, or work-life balance, or even happiness. It’s about a rich and fulfilling lifestyle. And if I may suggest, a passive repeat income can create a truly wonderful lifestyle.

The financial freedom I now have, Thanks to the Creator, gives me the time and resources to travel when I want, where I want. It allows me to spend time with my grandkids, visit some of the most beautiful places on earth with my wife, and always be there for my kids. And to me, that is of infinite value.

That’s why this mini-series is called “Why Lifestyle Matters.”

So, if you can, check out not just the audio episodes, but also the videos. Because in them, I don’t just tell you what I’m doing — I show you. You’ll see the amazing places I’ve been, the things I’ve been able to do thanks to financial freedom, and you’ll hear the deeper business and life lessons I learned along the way.

And here’s something important: you don’t need to wait until you’ve “arrived” at financial freedom to start enjoying life. In fact, there are solid business reasons to begin enjoying your dream lifestyle now — and to let that lifestyle pay for itself as you build.

Lifestyle Story

You know, I’ll tell you something funny. A while back, I was sitting in an airport lounge at 9 AM, laptop open, answering emails. A man across from me leaned over and said, “Rabbi, are you working right now? I thought this was a vacation!” I smiled and said, “My friend, this is vacation. Because when you only have to work one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening, the rest of the day is vacation!” He just stared at me like I had revealed the secret of the universe. And maybe I had.

That moment reminded me: lifestyle is not about escaping work. It’s about designing your life so that work, family, faith, and fun all weave together into something beautiful.

Why a Lifestyle series from a Rabbi?

So today, I want to introduce you to a new series I’ll be doing on this podcast — all about lifestyle. Why? Because when we talk about work–life balance, we often emphasize the “work.” But what about the “life” part?

Life is a gift. It’s about experiencing the best places, enjoying the beauty of the world that G-d created, and spending time with your family in new and meaningful ways. Taking trips, going on adventures, stepping outside of routine — these things build bonds, deepen relationships, and give us energy for everything else we do.

And here’s the truth: when you build financial freedom and create a system where you can work from anywhere — an hour in the morning, an hour at night — you unlock the ability to live a life filled with experiences, connection, and spirituality.

That’s what I want to share with you in this series. Because being “The Rabbi Who Got Rich on Sunday” has given me the freedom to create these experiences, and I want to show you that you can, too.

Lifestyle as a Foundation for Success
Now, here’s something important. Lifestyle isn’t just about pleasure. It’s about wholeness. When you take care of your body, soul, family, and spirit, you actually show up stronger in your business and your work. A better lifestyle is not the reward for success — it’s part of the pathway to success.

How Lifestyle Boosts Business – The Bottom Line
Here’s what I’ve learned: the better my lifestyle, the better my business does.

  • When I travel, I come back with fresh ideas that open new doors.

  • When I take care of my health, I have the energy to power through big projects.

  • When I prioritize my family, I lead with more confidence and less distraction.

  • When I stay connected to gratitude and G-d, I make decisions that are not just profitable, but purposeful.

So don’t think of lifestyle as separate from your business journey. It is one of the most powerful tools you have to grow not only your life but your business.

Lifestyle Trips Can Even Be Tax-Deductible
Now let me share one of my favorite little secrets: sometimes lifestyle trips are not only good for your soul, your family, and your creativity… they can even be good for your taxes.

Here’s what I mean: if you design your trips with intention — maybe you meet a client, check out a business opportunity, or even record a podcast episode while you’re there — those travel expenses can often be written off as legitimate business costs.

Imagine this: you’re standing on a mountain trail, looking at the breathtaking beauty of creation, and at the same time, you’re filming a short video for your audience about leadership and resilience. Guess what? That moment is both a spiritual recharge and a deductible expense.

Of course, I’m not giving you tax advice here — always check with your accountant. But let me tell you, when you align your lifestyle with your business and your purpose, you create this beautiful synergy: the very experiences that give you joy and memories also become part of your professional mission. That’s not just smart living — that’s living like The Rabbi Who Got Rich on Sunday.
